Engage Arts has been open five years now, and I still feel incredibly lucky every day to have the chance to do something I love.

We just moved to our new home at the historic Weldon House in Schwenksville!  The first floor is a unique Artisan Gallery Shop with all sorts of fine handmade items, art and photography, antiques, handpainted furniture, and so much more.  And the second floor is our new studio/classroom area with a beautiful front patio for Artsy Afternoons.

I'm Melissa Thurman, the owner.  I graduated from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking, but I love to work in a variety of different media and styles.  Since I was 6 years old I've been drawing & painting, always knowing I wanted to be an artist when I grew up, but that was all I had figured out.  Then I got a job teaching at a studio during college and fell in love!  I have been teaching more than 12 years.  Personally I like to experiment and work in a variety of styles and mediums, and I aim to bring that same exploration to the class projects.

We're expanding quite a bit right now, adding on visiting guest artist workshops, growing our camp program, venturing into off-site parties and workshops, and so much more.  Stop in for an Artsy Afternoonto check us out, and be sure to peruse the gallery wall a bit too!
