We have the privilege of calling the historic Weldon House in Schwenksville home! The first floor is a unique Artisan
Gallery Shop with all sorts of fine handmade items, art and photography, antiques, handpainted furniture, and so much more. And the second floor is our new studio/classroom area with a beautiful front patio for Artsy Afternoons. Our big beautiful hillside puts the studio in its own little world and gives us endless opportunity for outdoor art fun.
And we hold an Artisan Festival and Outdoor Market in the parking lots during the warmer months.
I'm Melissa Thurman, the owner. I graduated from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking, but I love to work in a variety of different media and styles. Since I was 6 years old I've been drawing & painting, always knowing I wanted to be an artist when I grew up, but that was all I had figured out. Then I got a job teaching at a studio during college and fell in love! I have been teaching more than 14 years. My major bodies of work are paintings and drawings inspired by the figure and anatomy, occasionally mixed with some florals and noveau style curves. But I also love to
experiment and work in a variety of styles and mediums, and I aim to bring that same exploration to the class projects.
I'm incredibly thankful to all of the families and artists who helped the studio survive covid and now continue to thrive.
We're open for classes and parties, still limiting seating in the studio to protect our patrons.
Stop in for an Artsy Afternoon to check us out, and be sure to peruse the gallery shop a bit too!
Located at the intersection of Route 29/73 and Spring Mount Rd, just up the hill from Schwenksville.
Gallery Parking is in the lower lot.
For classes and parties, please use the upper parking lot and the entrance to the rear of the building.
